Not familiar with Fantrax and whether this is possible but this may add interest during the final four weeks of the season.
8 Teams that do not make playoffs - Incorporate a 8 team playoff to determine 17-24. Could even use this to determine who gets 1st overall pick.
First 8 teams out of the round of 16 could playoff for 9-16th placing. Again, could use to determine draft seeding.
and so on and so on

If possible, I think that we should talk about it...

Easily doable in Fantrax in terms of getting it setup and active.
Unsure how I feel about it though, wasn't something like this proposed as an alternative in the NHL before they altered the lottery odds and expanded the lottery selections to 3?

I know this is possible in the paid for leagues; not sure about free leagues.
If this could result in the last place team getting the 8th pick overall, not sure I'd want to go that far...

My idea was to do a loser bracket and the winner would become 1st overall. Then we would go by standing for the rest of the standing mesning the worst team can't fall farther then one spot (2nd overall).

Not really a fan of rewarding missing the playoffs with such a good shot at #1 - seems then it'll be more fun to actually shoot to miss the playoffs than play for the championship.

Maybe we do it where you can only move up so many spots ie. if the 17th place team wins the consolation round, they get 5th pick. The intent is to have everyone involved until the last week.

I could support an expanded playoffs if there were limits to how far one could move up, as suggested by Mr. Vancouver.
Also, FWIW, I'm in an 18-team fantrax league and we use an expanded playoffs. The "champion" of the bottom bracket is awarded the last pick in the 2nd round of our entry draft. We've done this for 3 years now. And I will say that it does keep people active until the end.

A more nominal award seems more fair, can go for that. Perhaps a certain % increase in the Draft Lottery odds - something like +10% for each of Top 3 picks for the Winner and +5% for the runner-up (or some other combination)? Nothing too significant or guaranteed - but at least adds a fun element to this since the lottery is always something for non-playoff teams to look forward to.

So in theory the "best" of the worst teams would be rewarded?

So in theory the "best" of the worst teams would be rewarded? NOT REALLY, the best of the worst team should have a better chance at it but it's not a guaranteed. That mean everyone should be working that much harder at keeping a competitive team.
