Now that we have all formed the core of our rosters, I suggest we modify the rules for drafting to the following: "Before posting a draft choice in the draft picks thread, each GM will send a list of approx 5 to 10 players to Dave (Pembroke Lumber Kings GM) to be used for their NEXT pick(s). The list will only be used if the GM is not on-line when it is their turn to pick.
GM's who select 1-5 or 20-24 in the draft order will submit a list that can be used for two rounds as their picks are close together. GM's who select 6-19 will submit a list for the upcoming round only.
When posting a pick in the draft pick thread, the GM will write following these guidelines:
List submitted
The Red Deer Rebels select with the 999th overall pick
John Smith
If a GM fails to send a list to Dave prior to posting thier pick, the pick becomes invalid and that GM will miss thier turn and the next GM in the order will pick. The GM with the skipped pick can enter back into the draft order once their list is submitted to Dave."
I am suggesting this rule change for the following reasons: - Encourage activity during the initial draft to make drafting more fun
- Decrease frustration by shortening wait times between picks
Please post your thoughts/comments. Thanks!

Why should we have to send list prior to posting if we are on ? Owners should send a short list if they are not going to be around for a couple hours but there is no need to send list before posting. Also list may change depending on player you get .We have still a little over 2 months until entry draft and we do not have to do entry draft right after we can do it sometime in July .

I agree with Rage, no need for lists. I myself change my pick 10 times before actually picking and we have more then enough time to get this done. As long as all members are logging on frequently then it will move along at a slow steady pace. These types of drafts always take 4-8 weeks to complete and we are all trying to build our team the best we can with this draft. IMO lists are only needed if you are unavailable for longer than 3 hours and you pick within 1 or 2 slots.

I agree with the rest. I think requiring a list in order to pick is unnecessary. If you're on and you see that your pick is within three picks, then I think you should be courteous and send in a list. If it's 3 or fewer picks away, that's reasonable. But frankly, I really dislike the idea of sending a list that's 7 picks long. Personally, I pick at the tail-end of even rounds and the very beginning of the odd ones, and my pick in the odd rounds really, really depends on who I pick in the even round. I hate the idea of a list that would pick two guys for me without me adjusting it for who was picked in the even round.
Also, you'd just pick as soon as a GM was on the clock, so they wouldn't even have time to get on and make their pick live even if they wanted too. Just doesn't make any sense.
Be courteous and send a small list if you're less than 3 picks away and you're on (cough, Sens), otherwise just check in as often as possible.

Against lists in general also, part of the fun of the draft is analyzing each other's picks as they go and adjusting your strategy accordingly - everybody should just try to log on as often as possible when it's close to your pick, after 6 rounds, should know about the pick speeds of those around you.

Many great points raised in this thread that I agree with. There aren't many delays in this draft and sure a list would be great from a few GMs that have caused a wait, but in general things have gone smoothly. I also dont decide on my player until a couple picks away and sometimes consider who else was picked so I understand people not wanting large lists.
