This topic is getting quite interesting whit all these great memories and how it define our personality, our character and even our career path. It's really true how one action or reaction can mold each of us. Love the story Mr. Djur, you have a way with words that can awake one sole. Thx!!I suppose for "gamers" (whatever the game is) it's likely an inherited obsession.
My family is European on both sides, and each pair of grandparents played one game or another. It wasn't uncommon for the tea/coffee following dinner to be followed by a game. My wife's family is the exact same way. In fact my wife and I for the longest time now, play a game of Antsy (a card game) with our tea/coffee/dessert after most dinners, well...we did...we're in the middle of a move where after work we're taking one car load over at a time, so time doesn't permit...
But yeah, there's a ton of stories like that, and obviously memories associated with gameplay that had nothing to do with the game itself. My Grandfather on my Mother's side used to roll his own cigarettes while we played Chicago (another card game). He'd have the opera on in the background (He was from Italy) and the warmth of his living room coupled with the smell of the food he made and the kind of coffee he served and the slow manner with which he did everything used to render me nearly asleep even while playing the game, lol. Everything was just so calm there, perfectly so...He could have made a fortune on YouTube doing ASMR, lol.
