Thanks to the people who are signed up and are ready to go already. As you know we have a long offseason till our season kicks off in October, but it would be great to get the league full and the draft underway before May.
I have a few fantasy leagues that I am currently involved with and am intending on recruiting some people from there and making a couple posts on forums like HF in hopes of getting others.
Any recruiting that our members can do on their own will also be greatly appreciated. If you know some good hockey minds let them know they have a chance to build a team from the ground up to compete with other sharp hockey minded individuals for fun and bragging rights. This league will also be open to suggestion and will take the thoughts of others into consideration and will not be run tyrannically with one guy calling all the shots. There will also be trade reviews to ensure a semblance of league parity, but it has not been decided how this will work as of yet. We want to minimize vetos since when two GMs agree on a deal I believe no one has a crystal ball and can predict future success and has the right to tell the GM they are for sure losing the deal. Sometimes its just obvious that a deal is hurting a team and trades like Stamkos for an entry draft pick for example will be vetoed.
We will not be just accepting anyone though as activity will be stressed and it will be conveyed to potential GMs what is expected of them. I dont expect people to be on the forums for hours a day, but checking in once a day during the draft and a few times a week during the season will be the minimum unless there are circumstances why the person won't have access to a phone or computer for a period of time. We recognize people have lives outside of a free fantasy hockey league, but at the same time it is in everyones best interest to have 24 active GMs and I find it disrespectful to join a league if you feel you wont have a few minutes to check the website.
This is an optimistic goal, but I believe it is very doable and hopefully we will have minimal turnover for at least our first season.
