To accomodate our European GM's (or anywhere else in the world) I suggest this rule change:
6 hours to make your pick
BUT
each GM is allowed to state their own 8 hours of "personal leave time" daily that won't count against the clock.
For example, creating a thread where all GM's post thier "personal leave time" in EST format. So I would post 11pm - 7am EST. A European GM would probably post like 5pm - 1am EST.
Let me know how that sounds!

this might work...to a point...we'd have to see how many different time slot exemptions guys wanted

Everyone with non-North American time Zones send your player picks to the draft to the commish so you dont miss your picks!

If you didn't already know i'll be the one asking a lot of stupid questions. let's say i pick 10th. if we start at 7:30EST tonight, and 1-8 pick right away, 9 makes a pick at 1am EST does my time start at 1:01 am and expire at 7:01 while i'm still sleeping? i must be missing something.
I'll be checking a lot but i'm not waking up every 4 hours to see if the guy before me made their selection.

Im pretty sure the clock will be frozen from 12-8am. People can still make picks, but in your example where someone picks at 1am and you are next your 6 hour clock wouldnt start till the next morning at 8 so you would have till 2pm to pick.
Also anyone who misses their time frame can make their pick as soon as they log in

I am opening the draft tonight...but the 6 hour time limit won't actually begin for 24 hours....this is just a free period. If guys are around and want to go ahead and pick, that's fine.
The 6 hour clock begins tomorrow night at 7:00
The freeze time is midnight to 8am eastern daily. ie. if your pick end up being at 8:00 friday night, you will have until 10 am saturday morning to pick (4 hours friday night + 2 hours saturday morning)

Wanted to Post my concern here, I could of sworn I saw somewhere we were drafting utilizing fantrax. With it being just a forum draft I'm not sure I am able to do this. Had it been fantrax I could simply set a queue and have it draft for me when I wasn't here. I work 12 hour days I'm not available to make a pick during that time on a forum. If this is what it's going to be I don't want to start the draft and have problems down the road, so I might as well just drop out now.
Another concern is with how early we are starting this draft, the prior season hasn't even finished yet. If Crosby gets concussed before the end of the playoff's that would affect someone's pick going into next year. As well as players switching teams being traded at the draft or signing as Free Agents.

I can't say I feel sorry for you buddy. The rules clearly state we were drafting players on this site. If you didn't take the time to read that before hand or ask questions earlier that is definitely your issue. and why are you bringing up concerns on the draft time now? we have already started? Again clearly stated in the rules we were begining the draft before playoffs started. Hogan's Heroes gets the hero cookie for biggest duesch bag. Congrats.  |

It is possible to have a queue even without it being on fantrax. Just make a list or copy paste from fantrax and send it to Dave or myself. If you feel you dont have the time for this league that is alright too. As for the early start it is to fit in a 40 round fantasy draft a 3-4 round entry draft and then allow a period for trading. If we waited till after free agents are signed that could be late July with some free agents waiting even longer and we would run out of time. For injuries that is just always a risk just like someone could be concussed the first week of next season and be out the year. There is also a risk of drafting guys that are UFAs since it is unknown what team they might be on or what their salary will be. It is all just part of strategy and luck. |

Oh, I'm so sorry, I guess I missed the part where he updated the Rules and it states the draft will start today, because even now as I check it says draft date will be determined not anything about the playoffs. AND it says nothing in the rules about not having the draft on fantrax it says that that will be used for the standings, which I don't understand why you would use the site to have the team but not use the draft capabilities the site has. But it doesn't matter thats the way it is and you all will get to go on without this "duesch bag". Good luck to you and your over-reactionary self. |
