This award is presented to the GM who best exhibits skills in the art of negotiations. In evaluating GM's for nomination for this award, please consider the following:
- Ability to obtain desirable assets at a fair price through trades - Willingness to negotiate trades and recognized amongst peers as a exceptional trading partner - Responds to PMs in a timely and friendly manner
As I am sure everyone here has talked trades at some point, there should be ZERO excuses for not voting.

My vote goes to Ottawa. Even though our last Hossa didn't go through, have to say he's been a very open and communicative GM when it comes to trading and always responds to PMs in a timely manner and has been good to deal with. He's been one of the most active trading GM's both during last year's entry draft and during our 1st trade deadline. Also, he did teach me a bit of my lesson with my first trade in stealing my last year's 1st pick from me (no regrets though!) - as it was a good lesson that has helped me learn since. Anyways, good job Willy, your team is stacked with solid prospects and I'm sure you'll have a blast looking forward to watching your team grow for the future.

I had to flip a coin. It was Ottawa or Vancouver for me. Both very good at trade talks. And an honorable mention to Jon and Frank.

Even tho I feel I'm one of the best negotiator in this league but since I haven't made much deals since I love my team even tho I've talk to a lot of gm. I won't be voting for myself and will chose who I think is the best negotiator and soo on.
Bs.: I don't think anyone is faster at replying a pm then me but again I just don't feel I did enough to be considere the best this year.

I gotta vote for the old gm of Ranger which is Mr. Hamilton Bulldogs. He's one of the fastest at replying to pm and love to deal. He's also very polite and respectful when we had talk about possible deals.
You got my pick bro!!

I don't know why Ottawa is the run away winner!! I feel that he lost most of the trade he as made. Yes he did trade alot and was active but I don't feel is trade were anything to talk about.
Here's a few of is deals;
he had one deal that would have been vetoed but was withdrawn
Devante Smith-Pelly (W) 2014 2nd round entry draft pick
To Kelowna Marian Hossa (W) 2014 4th round entry draft pick (Pembroke)
then here's the a couple of deals that went threw:
Ottawa trades 2013 3rd round pick(50) 3rd round waiver draft pick Matt Tennyson
Kelowna trades 2013 1st round pick(17) - Curtis Lazar
----------
To Ottawa Andrew Shaw 2013 3rd(55) 2013 4th(90) 2014 4th
To Pembroke Daniel Alfredsson
I will agree that this deal was heck of a return for Alffy. I gotta admit that Ottawa did good here.
To Ottawa: 1st round (2013)(Adam Erne) and 4th round pick (2013) (Bogdan Yakimov) To Vancouver: 2nd round (31st overall) (2013)(Emile Poirier) and Shane Prince.
This is another good deal for Ottawa but I gotta admit this deal as of now is pretty equal. But Bogdan Yakimov could become a heck of a steal.
---------------
to Vancouver Canucks: Tory Krug 4.90 2013 (Michael Downing) 2014 2nd Round Pick (Ott)
to Ottawa Senators: 1.25 2013 (Van) (Jacob de la Rose)
This is a big win for Vancouver
-------------------
To Ottawa 2013 3rd round pick (51)-Dillon Heatherington 2013 3rd round pick (52)- 2013 3rd round pick (58) 2013 3rd round pick (69) 2013 4th round pick (76)
To Halifax J.T Miller (C)
This deal is very risky in a way since I feel that Miller could become a good player.
-------------------
To Ottawa Rickard Rakell
To Portland Nick Sorensen Ryan Kujawinski 2014 4th
hopefully Ottawa lose this deal in the long run but at the moment they won this deal.
-----------
To Ottawa 2013 4th round pick (93) 2013 4th round pick (94)
To Niagara Matt Halischuk W WPG
I declare Ottawa the winner. Enough said with this deal.
------------
To Ottawa 2013 5th round pick (106) -Vincent Dunn - very solid pick
To Oilers Andrej Sustr (D) TBL
--------
To Ottawa Calle Jarnkrok (C) DET
To Vancouver Connor Murphy (D) PHX Konrad Abelthauser (D) SJS
This deal gotta sting for Vancouver -------------------
Canners receive: Andrej Meszaros
Senators receive: Canning's 3rd Round Draft Pick in 2014 Canning's 4th Round Draft Pick in 2014
This deal is better for Canners since he's getting help now but if Ottawa needed cap Space then this was a win win deal. -------------
To Ottawa David Savard CBJ (D) Mark Stone OTT (W) Mirco Mueller SJS (D)
To Abbotsford Marian Hossa CHI (W)
I like this deal for both team. one team is getting lots of solid prospect and the other is getting the best bet.
---------------
To Ottawa Radek Faksa DAL (C) 3rd round entry draft pick
To New-York Dan Hamhuis VAN (D)
this deal seem kind of risky for Ottawa since Hamhuis is a good D.
--------------
To Ottawa 4th round entry draft
To California Dany Heatley
I think Heatley will resign next year at a affordable cap hit. So I prefer this deal for California.
----------------
To Central Red Army: Colin Wilson To Ottawa Senators: Chris Tanev
I feel Ottawa paid alot for Wilson and then flip Wilson for Tanev. I prefer this deal for central
All in all I feel Ottawa done a decent job and as been a very active gm and always respond with in the expected time frame. I just feel bulldog was just a tad smarter with is deals which are
NYR receives: Martin Jones (G,LAK) + 3rd rd pick (Seals) Golden Seals receives: Vernon Fiddler (C/W, DAL)
This deal was such a smart move by NYR now Bulldog gm.
------------------
Calgary Acquires
2013 2nd (37)- JT Compher 2014 2nd
New York Acquires
Radek Faksa
I feel for a pass 13 overall is a great price to pay. I'm just not a fan of Faska.
-------------
NY Rangers trade: Craig Smith Vancouver trade: Canucks 2014 2nd round waiver pick
This one is a one sided which is favoring Canucks side.
--------------------
NYR sends D Wideman, D, CGY Seals sends M Reinhart, C, CGY and 3rd rd entry draft 2014 (Seals)
This is a win now trade for Seals but I actualy like it for both team.
--------------
To Ottawa Radek Faksa DAL (C) 3rd round entry draft pick
To New-York Dan Hamhuis VAN (D)
If NY needed a D then this was a great deal for NY. either way I like it for both side. Just for everyone know Ranger traded 2013 2nd (37)JT Compher and 2014 2nd to obtain Faska. then traded 3rd 2014 and Faska for Hamhuis. Hopefully Hamhuis will be worth it.
--------------------
Chicago Blackhawks receive Jack Johnson, L Korpikoski, M Grabovski, 1st rd waiver 2014
Hamilton Bulldogs receive H Zetterberg + E Lack + 3rd rd waiver 2014
Just love it for Bulldogs.
-------------------------
Like you can see both gm as been active in all area but felt that Hamilton or aka Ranger was a tad better at negotiating. By the way this is not me trying to shit on Ottawa party but just felt to show that both gm was a good pick and who I prefer and wanted to discuss it openly. The more I'm writting this long post, the more Ottawa as impress me. i remember ottawa at the beg and I felt he wasn't a great gm but the more the season went the better he became and mroe complete. Congrats on being soo active and making this league special.

good points Frank. I think Ottawa is getting votes because of his negotiation methods. I liked dealing with him as well.

If Ottawa end up winning this award then I'm happy for you and I think every in Ottawa will be cheering in the streets!! lol!! I just wanted to make this a close race and that gm are voting cause he think he was actually the ebst negotiator and not because he was well like.

Hi Frank. This is just an observation. There are 3 criteria for this award: - Ability to obtain desirable assets at a fair price through trades - Willingness to negotiate trades and recognized amongst peers as a exceptional trading partner - Responds to PMs in a timely and friendly manner Your post re: Ottawa only seems to address the first criteria; you've ignored the other two. And the rest of us don't know that Ottawa is running away with it; it's a secret vote

Congrats to Willy. You are honoured for your excellent negotiations skills!
Ottawa Senators GM the first winner of the Glen Sather Award!
Willy won by such a wide margin, there is no need for a follow-up vote.
