Frank, are you saying the "board" would invent contracts for players that differ from their real life salaries?
I'm not in for that at all.

It work in ither leagues and there was never bias toward anyone. Yes with my idea you could lose a player to the UFA. Think about how realistic it could be. If you start benching your starter to tank, that goalie who's a UFA eligible might demand to be traded or you might lose him to UFA since you aren't competing and he want to win now and so on.

I think that type of structure would be interesting if you started a league from scratch with that model.
For our league though, transitioning 24 teams to that system would be extremely difficult, if not impossible.

You would have the year to make offer at your UFA/RFA - a max of 5 per week. If a player felt he as less shot at winning the cup like a buffalo team then they would demand a tad more and so on.

We are good until the end of this year. Let's just see how things roll for now and whether somebody steps in the fill the gap caused by the loss of capgeek.

Capgeek was to important for world of hockey, and market leader... I expect that someone will jump to take that position and I don't think we will start new season without some kind of copy of Capgeek. That part of market is to important to be left alone.

Totally agree. Fantasy hockey is important to the NHL. At the very least I would expect the NHL to step up. I would expect that there will be another cap geek fairly quickly. No need for us to panick.

Spotrac doesn't seem to include signing bonuses in their total. This creates a lower avg salary than we have been using. The site that I have been using that incorporates those bonuses is stats.nhlnumbers.com/
