If we ever did change it , I would prefer going with stats to lean on then simply say top 4 center on each team. I would need to look at the number closer to make a final decision on which number to use . Also we would have the right to overturn a position and to do that we would need to number to lean on . Let s say a player was a center last year but this year decide to play him on the wing. So after let's say 20 games you would have the right to ask for this or that player to be switch if he s under the criteria was say we take 4 face off per game and Seguin is taking 4 per game for 20 game. You would have possibility to change C to W . But only between 20-25 games you would have possibility to make such change. After this the window is close until the 45 game . This is just a quick idea !! Now you're back to Puck rules. Applying any of these kind of rules opens a can of worms since this league has duals. Getting rid of duals would be a major change in here when teams have been building for years under the pretense that duals are legal. Not sure that's a good road to go down. When enacted in the beginning of a league, it's very different than applying after a few years. My point to all of this is to show information that is used in other leagues to determine positions. In here I would recommend sticking to whatever Fantrax assigns, and leave open the door for change requests to the commissioners if you think a player should be altered. I never said I was in favour of such change but was just pointing out if we as group wanted the change that we could and which star we could possibly use to determine who s center and who's not . It's Cody that want this change and brought it up. !!

Why not keep it really simple and say Forwards instead of Centers and Wingers and just go with face off winning percentage instead of face offs won.

what about something like:
0-200 Faceoffs taken = winger
200-500 =c/w
501+ = centre

So, for example, if Sydney Crosby gets injured for a year (and hence takes no face offs), should he be labeled a winger the following season when he comes back? And what about players who change positions during the year?
Fantrax positions aren't perfect. But neither is any other system. That's why I prefer to go with the status quo. And I'd encourage people to email Fantrax to update positions. In just the 1.5 years I've been using Fantrax, I've seen a lot of centres lose C/W status.
As soon as you build a system where you allow multiple overrides per team, it gets complicated and messy very quickly.
There is no easy fix to this problem, given that the league has created FOW as a category.

Then a guy like Dubinsky can slip through cracks because of injury. Then for those few, we check the stats from the season prior exactly. it's not that hard to figure out. most players in fantrax have the correct designation already. we might have to change 20-30 per year....

Fantrax does some weird things. Lewis and Paquette on my team were both switched to C only and didn't take many faceoffs last year and some players keep C/W despite being top FO guys as pointed out.

By next season, you mean 2016-17? Because "this season" (2015-16) would be ridiculous.
I traded for two C's this off season based on the fact that Zibby and Couture are C/W and that Fantrax had not updated their positions to C-only.
It's way too late to make a substantive change like this for this season.
You'd be forcing me to undue the trades I've already made, and putting me at a competitive disadvantage since everyone would know that I have way too many C's and not nearly enough W's.

Seems there is no way around some manual overrides as long as we have some sort of criteria both ways.

16-17 season seems like the right thing in my book.
