I would like to propose the following modification to the draft time limit rule:
"Six hours to make a pick
BUT
If its a GM's turn to pick and this GM logs onto this site, the GM has 10 min to post a pick. If the GM leaves or takes longer than 10 min, the draft moves forward and the next GM can pick. The GM with the skipped pick can log on at any time to make that pick."
This modification will address the recent abuse of the six hour limit. The six hour limit was originally created to accomodate time away from this site for work, family, ect. This rule was never intended to give GM's an extra six hours to research draft picks once a GM knows its his/her turn. Research should happen between picks not during.
Please post your feedback. Thank you.

I agree, but 10 minutes is a little too harsh for me. 1 hour should be plenty of time to research if you havent already and I would suggest after logging in when you are on the clock that could be a good time limit.

I'd say about 20 minutes is better. Sure, you should have a list of potential picks ready, but sometimes it's really hard to choose between two guys. 20 minutes should do it, from the time you first log in to check if it's your pick. If it's the second time, 5.

Post your draft picks here
Please include the draft pick number in your post...thanks
Draft Rules
40 rounds - underway -Any player that has been drafted, and undrafted NHL players currently under contract are eligible -6 hour time limit allowed to get online - see not below(may be changed during later rounds) -3 goaltenders max. per team -3 prospect goaltenders max. per team
Salary is the actual NHL salary cap hit of the player (per Capgeek.com)
When you log on and it is your pick, please do so in a timely manner. The 6 hours is to give you time to get online...not to study players once you are online. Thanks
You will probably be notified when it is your pick, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check if you are up. No excuses will be accepted for missing your time to pick
If you miss your pick you have until the end of the round to make a pick, and then one will be made for you
The above is already in place (at the beginning of the draft pick thread)but I'm sure half you haven't read it. Perhaps we should give a time limit once the gm has logged on (I think 20 minutes is more than enough)

To change rules now is a bit harsh, i think. I'd say something like starting round 10 time limit drops to 3 or less hours and all gms must select a list of top 5 picks to the Admin who is furthest from his pick. If all 5 of your picks get chosen, then you will be notified and have 6 hours to respond. just an idea

Exactly Dave. You kind of hinted at this in the rules already but it wasn't exactly spelled out. If we could update the rule book with this change that would be awesome.

And no, I don't agree with changing the six hours down to three as family and work are still important parts of life and I'd rather not "autopick" with a list. For me, draft strategies can change mid-round and I'l like to make my own adjustments to my own lists.

I don't see how it is harsh...you are allowed up to 6 hours to get a chance to log in....WHEN you log in you SHOULD BE prepared to pick...simple as that. It is not rocket science. 30 minutes gives you more than enough time to see who has been picked and to make your pick accordingly.
I have even left my cell number up top if you want to text me
And, the later rounds will definitely be time dropped from the 6 hours.

i'm with Dave, once you log-in you have 30mins to make your pick if you're up.
If you dont, we jump you and keep on going.
To answer the Seals question, if it's always up on your phone just re-fresh it often so you know when you're picking.

I'm at work and thaught I could make my pick fast but guess what?? i git busy and more busy and every time I went to post the pick I got more busy. also I wasn't sure between two player and went with the better all round player wich is Ladd !! We have 6 hours to pick, so you please stop whining about make you wait 2hours. Others made me wait 2 hours and also that's what I was trying to tell you making a no trade aloud the draft doesn't make it go faster. Take a chill pill guys, we are here to have fun!!

I need some time when I log to make my pick. It's not always possible to log every couple of hours to check picked players. Yes, I have a list, and I try to already make my mind about whom to pick when is my turn, but as I said it's not always possible. It's a long draft and sometimes I need some time to go through all taken players since last log in. 20 mins is fair time since log in to post a pick, 30 mins optimal, IMO. Thanks! Of course, I am strongly against abusing this rule, and wait every time 30 mins to make a pick, but sometimes it is necessary.

I think for the most part, the draft has gone fairly smoothly. I dont mind the rule changes/time limit changes as long as it gives us a warning/heads up of when it will be implemented ie. Announce during round 6 of the draft that "effective round 8 - time limit decrease to 3 hours, etc, etc." Gives GMs that adjustment period i guess.
In this case, i think its fair to ask GMs to respect the 6 hr time limit and take 30mins or so to draft.
Shoutout to the peeps that drafts before me and after me that comes on and drafts swiftly. Makes the transition easier and fun that way!

I agree some people really need to take a chill pill. The draft is going well and the league is fairly active with everyone checking in everyday. I agree 6 hours is too long but I would say somewhere between 1-2 hours would be appropriate.
