Just wondering when is the waiver draft going to be? Is it before or after the Entry? Some may need to plan out our vacation schedule so might be good to set the dates in advance.

No date set yet. TAB has to do that.
most likely after the entry draft though.

Curious why the waiver draft isn't the reverse of final standings? I understand during the season a waiver pick up means dropping to the bottom. That is fair. But for the waiver draft isn't that a bit of a harsh for the entire four rounds? For example stacked teams like Barrie, Belfast, and Abbostsford are picking high? Doesn't it make more sense the top picks going to the weaker teams?

Given the Entry is probably going to be in early July, perhaps good to do the Waiver sometime between mid-May to early June? Fills in the gap a bit between the end of the season and Entry and keeps everybody busy. And July/Aug will probably be a busy time for many with summer vacations (which I'm planning now!)

I find it wrong that the method isn't being followed here but to each their own. The purpose of waivers and a waiver draft (which I would like to add, I am stoked that this league has a waiver draft) is to keep top teams from stashing away better players from the worse teams. The NHL purpose is so that a player can't get trapped in limbo (somebody should have told Redden that, huh?) but in my opinion: The Draft, The Cap and Waivers are all tools used to help keep parity possible. Parity is vital in FHLs because if you get a number of teams at the top that "seemingly" can never be beaten, the league withers and dies. too many free leagues out there for GMs to jump to. on the same token I find the idea of trading waiver draft picks odd but then when you factor in no ability to sign free agents in this league, I think I get it. Removes the ability for GMs to pick up the fresh meat before everyone gets the chance.

I notice that you don't use a timed draft for your entry draft or this one. Might I suggest it as an option? I use it in my league, ZFHL and it has made drafting simple for everyone. With a times draft every GM knows when their slot is going to come up so they can plan accordingly.
Some say that it slows down the draft but to be honest the first round or two are usually much busier than latter rounds. I usually set up the entry draft in my league and I have a simple template with simple rules that always keeps things going smooth and I would volunteer to help out with it if it the offer is warranted.

September makes the most sense. It realistically is only going to take a few weeks before the regular season starts and also gives most of us a good idea what players might make their NHL team and who won't.

Good points blues, September sounds good also for the waiver draft - maybe into training camp so we can see who may surprise and increase the potential pool of players to select from (anything but August, everybody seems to be away then).
Actually didn't mind the slow draft, as long as we have time, which we should have plenty of for the Entry in which there's no real rush - we tried the timed draft during the supplemental waiver and that seems to work well when there's a particular deadline to work against.
Regarding league parity, agree we should try to keep as much as possible, yet we do have some teams who have jumped into full-on rebuild mode fairly early on - and some teams even admit that having lots of young up-and-coming prospects to look forward to is actually more fun than competing for the title year after year - so to each their own. Everybody has their own motivations for joining fantasy leagues, so as long as they have a high commitment level think that's the key.
