I'd say the winner gets to pick their choice of prize: either a random 1st entry, random 1st waiver, or 10% cap relief for one year.

I'd say the winner gets to pick their choice of prize: either a random 1st entry, random 1st waiver, or 10% cap relief for one year. We'll take the top 2 from this poll and have another poll with those 2 plus winner's choice.

Just to clarify, this is for starting in 2015 right..
Anyways, think all of these are way too excessive and serves to create even more imbalance in the league (a 10% cap cushion is over 7M and significant advantage, even 5% is pretty big) And given the strong 2015 draft, any 1st round pick would be a significant asset. A lower waiver or entry pick seems to make more sense
And how about the regular season winner, they get nothing?

Regular season winner will get whatever League Champ doesn't choose. (unless majority votes no reward)

My preference is an entry level draft pick in the second round.

I voted for no reward. My belief is that everyone is here for bragging rights - that's really what this place is all about. And in my humble view, the best way to keep a league active and fun is to ensure a healthy, competitive balance. Rewarding a league champ with extra draft picks or extra cap space seems to promote the opposite of league parity...
Of course, I'm happy to roll with anything the group decides.
Cheers Dave.
EDIT: Vancouver's suggestion (2nd round entry pick) also has merit; it's a reward, but not big enough to significantly hurt lower-tier teams.

I kind of agree that we are all here for bragging rights but at the same time it would be fun winning something. But I can't vote on getting a extra pick in the 1st round since it's way too much. Then giving them 5 or 10 % more cap hit just doesn't make sense since we would be giving the winning a advantage and why would he need one when he just won the cup. The I saw getting the 1st overall in the waiver pick and felt that we had a winner since there are no true number one in a waiver draft since we do our own research. Waiver draft is harder to determine who's the true number one compare to the entry draft since it being scrutinize for years. Look they are all ready talking about who will be the number one overall in the 2015 draft.
So i voted for 1st overall in the waiver draft but I wouldn't be sad or mad if it get denied and that no reward is the winner. It's still very cool to even have this option. I give this pool a two thumbs up on the creativity behind it.
keep up the great work guy's.

Just to try to stimulate discussion, I'd be quite supportive of a random waiver pick in the first round. But the 1st overall pick seems a bit steep, as that pick has the potential to be very valuable...so I'd prefer to see the top pick remain with a lower tiered team, as opposed to the league champion.

It could be worth a lot but then again it could be a miss with the 1st overall waiver pick. It's really not a sure thing compare to the draft pick. How about a mid early pick like a 8-12 pick. Then I think I be a tad more fair like Buffalo said. Either way I'll be cool with anything.

I'm all for adding in some sort of reward purely for the fun factor, as that should be the sole motivation for this. Think general consensus is that 1st round picks (both entry and waiver) are pretty valuable. How about additional options like:
2nd round pick 3rd + 4th round picks 4th + 5th round picks
And random for all (since that also increases the fun factor)
And drop the cap options, as that directly affects competitive balance.

Sorry guys....in light of comments, I have revised the poll and you will have to vote again.

Much better options now Dave - random waiver is the clear choice for me - the range is wide enough that it's not a slam dunk winner to make any difference, as the 50th pick could easily turn out to be better than the 1st and value varies widely depending on individual team needs - yet it'll be a lot of fun looking forward to that draw for the winners.

Random 2nd, maybe 32 - 48 those teams missing playoffs don't get bumped but I'm fine for whatever. I like the idea of a reward though

Given the new choices, I've jumped ship (from no reward) to random waiver (1 to 50). The likelihood of it being 1st overall is small enough that I could support this, just to increase the 'wow' factor of the lottery. I don't think there is much risk of this reward throwing off the competitive balance of the league, while still giving a little something to the league champion.
