Datyuk signed for 7,82 mil for 2 years. He said that his knee(s) could not last for one more NHL season - and it would be over, and he wish to play at least 3 more (final one for his old club Avtomobilist). That's the main reason why he is back and that make sense to me. I was very surprised he left Red Wings with one year left (before they traded his contract). He can rest his knee now, probably will not take longer trips and play as much as he can in much weaker league. Zignarevich, former owner of Atlant has troubles to explain where 1 billion roubles are gone from his accounts... Golovkin and Guryanov are not planing to go back to KHL and it looks like Dadonov didn't find any NHL club and will be back with SKA. Who is Golovkin all I can find about him is a Boxer and a chess player do you have his full name or a link to a hockey profile of his ?

Kovar ever coming over? Or Da Costa ever coming back? Being a Sens fan I can say that Da Costa had talent but he could never put it together in Ottawa he needed to be sheltered, but i'm going to bet a team offers him a 1 year at min for a tryout or invite him on a PTO. Correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't Ottawa still have his NHL rights?

It should be Nikolay Goldobin, not Golovkin... LOL... My fault or auto-correct.... Thanks for noticing the mistake.
Shipachev, Dadonov and Belov are back in training camp. I know it's cliche, but the question about Shipachev is - would he be a good fit. Last two seasons (including World Championship) were brilliant, but he is 29... Where was he before? As one scout said, if I am idiot, what about other 29? There is surely something that NHL clubs didn't like about him before. When SKA won the Gagarin Cup in 2015, the line was Panarin - Shipachev - Kovalchuk... Who makes whom better? He had great wingers in last seasons, whether in club or national team. It looks like Rangers are out of the race, that leaves Montreal (as frontrunner), Florida and Carolina. I don't see him on top 6 in Montreal (Galchenyuk, Plekanec) and Florida (Barkov, Bjugstad) but Carolina could be nice fit. There are teammates at SKA that failed in NHL (Plotnikov, Khokhlachev, Dadonov) who, according to Russians, are talking him away from NHL.
Dadonov asked for too much money, nobody in NHL wanted to pay, and he is staying with SKA.
Roman Lyubimov (CSKA), 24, forward, signed two-way contract with Flyers. Six more NHL teams were interested.
Denis Malgin (#102, 2015 draft) signed with Panthers, last year played in Switzerland.
Da Costa also plays for CSKA, but after they lost in the finals, it's seems to me that they are falling apart (Radulov, Zaitsev, Lyubimov, Hjalmarsson - all gone) and they are far from being contender IMO. If he doesn't come back this summer, then it is all about money and earning as much as he can...
Jan Kovar (Magnitogorsk) won Gagarin cup last year, has two seasons with 68 points, two very good play-offs and is 26. I would love to see him in NHL, but there are no news about him going anywhere which surprises me...

Not much for today.... Alexei Bereglazov, D, 22 years, Magnitogorsk, plan one more year in KHL before going to NHL. After Roman Lyubimov signed with Flyers yesterday, journalists find out that last four Russians (Zherdev, Bryzgalov, Bobrovsky, Medvedev) in Philadelphia didn't meet expectations. Lyubimov said: "I don't think they will look into my passport before they decide if I play or not". Maybe time to trade Provorov, Frank? I warned you...

Patrick Bjorkstrand (Medvescak Zagreb), signed two-way with LA Kings.... Viktor Tikhonov signed one-year deal with SKA, as expected... Didn't say anything about going back, but he signed for just one year, so I think he still wish to play in NHL. Yevgeni Medvedev said that WSH, COL, TBL, EDM and BOS offered him contract, but all were under 2 mil per year, so he went back to Avangard Omsk. KHL schedule is finally out. No breaks for World Cup and Olympic qualifiers... SKA will be without head coach (Znarok) and some players (Dadonov, Datsyuk, Shipachev, Voynov, Koskinen) during Wold Cup which is stupid to me. Kyle Chipchura signed one year contract with Slovan Bratislava.

Ben Scrivens signed for Dinamo Minsk (Belarus), weak team, looks like a move to make money as much as possible. Not sure even good season here would bring him back to NHL.
Andrei Vasilevsky said that he don't plan to play in Russia anymore. Said that he would play for less money in NHL than go back to KHL, even to his hometeam Ufa.
Former coach of Bogdan Yakimov said that he doubts that Yakimov ever makes NHL. He fears that he is to slow for that league.
And, finally, first rumors are out that CSKA plans to bring Nail Yakupov to Moscow...

Thanks guys, for the support.. I can keep this thread going on and on if you want to read it. I read KHL news anyway, so it's just couple of minutes to write it here... No big deal Marc-Andre Gragnani joined Scrivens in Minsk, after one year in Switzerland and one in NHL/AHL he is back in KHL. Nail Yakupov gave big interview to Russians... Said that he doesn't know anything about CSKA offer (of course), he plans to stay in Edmonton but only if he play top 6 minutes.. Also, he said that he ready to do what is best for him and for the club (last two sentences could be in collision, IMO..).. Said that Hall was very angry and upset when he heard that he was traded... And, CSKA's GM Sergei Fedorov offered huge contract to Dmitry Orlov, but admitted that Orlov prefers to stay in Washington... CSKA Moscow is looking for big one this summer, maybe not Yakupov or Orlov, but someone will go there... Interesting debate about when is right time for the Russian players to go to North America. The question was raised when Yakimov failed and came back to Russia. Most of experts agreed that is best to go as finished player (like Datsyuk, he was 23) or go much earlier and play junior hockey. And worst should be to go at 20, 21 when they are still developing but big things are expected from them. Personally, I don't think first option is available anymore, especially for high draft picks... Take, for exapmle, German Rubtsov this year.. I don't think that Flyers can wait him five years... What do you think about this?

Back from vacation, and we missed here start of KHL... It's still early, nobody played more then 4 games... And what a game last night... SKA - Ak Bars Kazan 5-6 (SO) SKA went early in the lead, and what a fantastic opening goal for Shipachev (Dadonov, Gusev)... You can watch it here. Then Ketov get 5+GM and Kazan went on 5 min PP. But, SKA rested Koskinen (they will be without him during World Cup, also) and Shesterkin got a first start - and let 4 goals on 9 shots during PP and went to bench (horrible first game). Kazan scored later a fifth. And then started a comeback.... 3 points from Datsyuk, 3 from Kovie - and Magic Man tied a game with 5 sec left (Kovie assists)... videoKovie had a 6 point game against Ufa last week, he is reborn playing on the same line with Datsyuk this year... It looks it will be hell of a season....

I don't think Shipachyov comes, as much as I'd like to see him in the NHL
Long Live The Ruble Report!
