Wow... ABB got 2 W picks for 24y old player who couldn't play for Boston, couldn't play for juggernaut SKA and was traded to bottom club Spartak (Khokhlachev). Good job ABB and I hope I am wrong STJ. I know I don't have any right to put comments in Trades thread, but wanted to offer my thought on Russian player. Seems like he just didn't want to make the picks and ABB was lucky enough to be there to scoop them up. Not an ideal situation having a GM giving away picks that other GMs value, but also not assets that are valuable enough that it warranted vetoing IMO. |

I never said it's for veto, maybe I didn't choose my words as I wanted to. There is a chance that both W picks will play zero games in NHL. But wanted to give credit to ABB for good job IMO. |

Reading some of the articles about preseason game(s) in China...
I understand it is a huge (or biggest) market, and NHL is trying to make more and more money, but it will be hard. I didn't see such non-hockey market as China so far.
They invested huge money in their KHL team (Kunlun Red Star) last year, made play-off... This year, invested even more money (they were first in the East for some time) add (bought) three more team in VHL (second tier Russian league), but nobody is watching or care about it..
I mean, Kunlun plays games both in Beijing and Shanghai (more then 50 mil people together) and very often they play in front of less then 1,000. They can't find 1,000 that have interest in hockey... and that is very decent level of hockey...
