Russians report today that IIHF agreed to pay insurance and travel cost for NHLers for next year Olympics - around 20 mil $... One step closer, but still not sure that NHL will go... Also, first rumor is out that Ovie plans not just to play in Olympics if NHL does not go, but to break his contract in summer and return to Dynamo Moscow... Most do not believe it, but if it happens, remember that you read it here first :-) In the next days I will try to summarize what happened in KHL play-offs regarding players relevant to us...

If possible, I would like to get some feedback about this thread... As I wrote earlier it's not a problem for me to put some news about Russian players or KHL here. Basically, my idea was to give you news that you can use, and hopefully gain some advantage, in other leagues that you are in.
But if I write here that player X is horrible (and put some stats or links to prove it), but he still has value in our league - is it fair to the GM that owns that player in our league? I mean, I could potentially ruin a trade.. And I don't want it.. Also, I think I have a very good relationship to all of you here, and also there is no need to break it regarding some news posted here...
On the other side, what if I put some positive news about player Y... What if some of you also find it out before me, and tried to get this player for cheap from other GM that didn't have this info? I would also interfere in this trade then... Would it be fair or not?
That's why I stoped being more active in this thread, and honestly I don't know what to do... Thank you all for your feedback and PMs regarding KHL.

As you probably heard, KHL went from 29 to 27 teams next season. Three more will get out in one year, so it should be 24 from season 18/19. Also, salary cap should go down, so that gap between big and small teams should shrink. I think that are moves in right direction, if they can stick to it, and don't let big ones to explore the holes in so called "salary cap"... But that's one big IF....

The more information the better I think. I enjoy reading these updates as I don't get much info about the KHL or spend much time looking into it, so to have someone who actually follows the league and players over there add insight is beneficial.

This is one of my favourite threads, I really enjoy the opinion from someone who watches the KHL and gets their media from a market other than North America.

I also love this thread and this shouldn't affect any future trade. It will only help us gauge their real value. The only thing I would advice you not to do is to give too much info on prospect that are draft eligible other then that feel free to post it.

Most of them play in MHL (youth KHL) and I do not follow it so much. But what about free agents that are eligible for our Waiver Draft?

I see that many of you are interested in situation regarding Dynamo Moscow :-) I also saw some articles in NA media about it, but many of them do not understand that clubs and leagues in Russia operate on a very different way then in NA or in European Union. That's nothing new that club has big financial troubles and can't solve them. The same club, HC Dynamo Moscow, went to bankruptsy in 2010 and then they merged with financial healthy club Tver, founded new club UHC Dynamo Moscow (later changed back to HC), with same colours, same crest, same rink, same players - and no debt. This time a situation is a little bit worse now then in 2010, but they had an idea to merge it with Vityaz Chekhov this time (they rejected this idea month ago). About contracts, players, unpaid salaries is silly to talk about... The fact is - Dynamo Moscow is too important club for Russian hockey, and they will continue to play, with same name, same colours, same crest. I assume that most of debts will never be payed, but that's Russia... If that happened to some some small club like Yugra or Sochi they would be kicked out of the league long time ago...

Wow... ABB got 2 W picks for 24y old player who couldn't play for Boston, couldn't play for juggernaut SKA and was traded to bottom club Spartak (Khokhlachev). Good job ABB and I hope I am wrong STJ.
I know I don't have any right to put comments in Trades thread, but wanted to offer my thought on Russian player.

I really appreciate when GMs give comments in thier trade thread. It helps understand why the deal was made.
