I was surprised, too, though I understand how life goes. I didn't really get to follow the first two rounds being away. When my 3rd pick came up, I'm at the end of the night, so I figured I had some time to play catch up then at the end of my window (1 a.m.). Soo had the morning pick and was right on it, though, and got his guy in before me. I didn't expect to see open slots soon after.

Sorry guy's for taking soo lomg to make my slection. Since it was my last, i decided to take my time and make the correct decision. After hours I decided to select Ilya Lyubushkin who sign a 2 way contract worth 1.350M. This tells me that Ilya believe in his ability to make it in the nhl and willing to work hard by playing in the AHL. Once he make the nhl he'll start putting stats like hits, block shots to name a few. I There's still plenty of risk since he only sign a 1 yeat contract but he wants to play in the nhl for a lomg time. So did I make the correct decision ? Only time will be the true mesurement in this case. There was too many talent to choose from and hopefully I got one of the good one.
I'm quite happy with my draft :
Highmore Kahun - took him over Lankenin (who was my main target and felt he had better odds of dropping to me at 43) 43. Folin 75. Ilya L.
I think at the end of the day I can bstill proud lf my selection.
Any thoughts on your draft and how you feel about it ?

How did everyone's draft go?
I have a suggestion for next year: The end of the waiver draft is scheduled to be a day before 1st roster lock. I say this becuase training camps are still in progress and I feel like we'll have more accurate information for our waiver draft if we just a waited a week or two longer before starting. thoughts on this?

I think it would give an unfair advantage for the last bunch of picks

I think it would give an unfair advantage for the last bunch of picks I think that's the issue we got right now Dave. For example, I got Carsen Twarynski as a 4th rounder. Had we waited to start the draft, I think he would be a 2nd rounder at least. I think Frank would chime in with the Kahun pick also. Another way of doing it is having the waiver draft completed before training camp begins.

I researched Kahun early and thought he didn't seem worthy of a pick, but agree that now he has shown well in camp and my opinion has changed on him.

Considered Kahun too, but his 3.775 cap hit killed a lot of his value for me

This was my first full draft of any kind and I thought it went great. Did some players gain or lose value during the process? Sure, but that happens in the real world as well, especially now that pro leagues spread drafts over multiple days and social media pokes at people. Those value changes, for us, are independent of this league so they are equally possible to crop up for any team. I added players to my list and deleted others as we went along. The only thing that caught me off-guard was Gritty, but I don't think anyone who follows hockey saw that coming. I also looked back at previous waiver drafts and the sentiment of moving the waiver draft to another time didn't look like it has been mentioned once in the talk threads. There was a move to stop people skipping picks until the end, which was enacted, but nothing for picking in general. I hope no rash decisions are made because of a couple of late-round picks. Maybe if we see real concerns for a second season or something we should consider a change to the positioning of the draft, but not if this is the first time this has come up.

Last year, I was able to get Bratt with a late round pick. I think had we waited an extra week or two to start the draft, he would have been taken with a 1st round pick. I noticed this trend two years in a row now, so I thought it would be worth discussing.

Why you think I wasn't in a hurry near the end of the draft. I prefer seeing the targ t play and wait out hours or a day to make a more inform pick. I do agree it's kind of cheating but still permitted to make your selection late.
